  • Feels like a HUGE weight’s been lifted off my shoulders…

    HUGE week for me…

Closed on my condo on Monday…

Paid off $25,000 in credit card debt on Tuesday…

Now all I have left (other than a fat mortgage and car payments) are student loans…

What a great way to start the Holiday Season.

  • Crazy morning

As I was driving back from my friend’s place this morning, I witnessed a couple of people at a bus stop stooped over and hovering over a man lying on the ground.  There wasn’t too many people up and about yet so not much traffic either.  I made a u-turn, pulled up right next to them, got out of my car and asked what was wrong.  The man on the ground was bleeding all over his face and was convulsing.  The two guys there were holding him down to keep him from injuring himself further.  They already called 911 and were waiting on the ambulance to get there.  I called again anyway since this guy really looked like he could use some help… I really didn’t know what else I could or should do.  Got 911 right away and within a minute of conversation, the emergency unit arrived.  I just kinda stood there in disbelief as they drove him off.  Luckily there were some good samaritans that were able to get him some help.

    Hopefully, he’ll be ok.

  • PAIN

Guess I’ve found my threshold… between 8 – 9 miles… after that my legs will refuse to listen to my brain.  Doesn’t help that I’ve only been running once a week.  I’m pleased I was at least able to complete the Soldier Field 10 mile, maybe not at the pace that I could be proud of, but I was able to participate, finish, and have a good time.  We ran another 10 miles today… but my calves were burning up, and my ankles and knees were taking a pounding… had to walk the last mile

But I’m determined to do the marathon (and I would like that I start strong and finish strong).  Something my military buddy told me: “Pain is weakness trying to leave the body.”  Guess pain’s one of those problem tenants that just don’t wanna leave my body.

  • Well, I didn’t get to run the Ravenswood 5k.  I went out the night before to Rumba, a salsa bar in downtown.  It was the first time I went there and I had a blast!  I got to try out some of my newly acquired skill.    Though, I was pretty intimidated when I first arrived.  But, I managed to not look too much like a noob!  At least I hope not.

I ended up getting home at 5 am and my run was supposed to be at 7:30 am.  It was raining most of the night (hell, it’s been raining most of the week) and it was pouring around 6 am.  I wasn’t really feeling up for running under those conditions and fortunately I received a call in the morning.  J and everyone was contemplating the same thing and we all agreed that it was in our best interest that we not run that morning.  What a relief!

Oh and I received my picture from the Wrigley 5k.  It turned out really well.    Well, I suppose that’s a matter of opinion.
