I must be on crack!
This was probably one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make. I turned down Cisco Systems for the SE2 position in KC. After much deliberation, weighing out the pros and cons, I decided that I am not ready to make such a huge leap.
The Pros:
- Work for Cisco, the industry leader in networking (my dream company)
- Make lots of $$$ (plus bonuses, benefits, full package)
- Exposure to the latest and greatest networking technologies.
The Cons:
- Far from family
- Far from friends
- Start a whole new life in a new city
- What the hell is there to do in KC?
I'd be making lots of money in a foreign place where I have to establish a life... far from family and friends... sounds an awful lot like when I was in Korea. Thanks... but no thanks. It's not always about the money!
What would you do?!

money won't buy you mental stability. i need to surround myself with friends and family to stay mentally stable
Whoa...I'm sorry dude. But it's good to know you have your life in perspective...you're right, it's NOT about the money. Yeah, it's nice to try new things, but if you know your heart is here, why take the chance? Opportunity will knock again. And hey, at least you know you could have if you wanted to.
looks like the cons outweigh the pros. I couldn't leave my family and friends either. They're a huge support system for me (...keeping me sane)
Thx for the comments ladies. It helps to reinforce my decision and helps make me feel easier about making it.
Of all places, why KC?!?!?!?!?! If Cisco wants you, whoelse wouldn't? Don't worry...be crazy. [wat?]
